Threshold Screening Tool

To be required to file a TRI report, you must meet three criteria:

  1. Your facility'sAll buildings, equipment, structures and other stationary items which are located on a single site or on contiguous or adjacent sites and which are owned or operated by the same person (or by any person which controls, is controlled by or under common control with such person). A facility may contain more than one establishment (40 CFR Section 372.3). primary North American Industry Classification (NAICS) code must be a covered NAICS codeThese are the NAICS codes for facilities that must report to TRI (including exceptions and/or limitations) if all other applicability criteria are met.

    Facilities determine their own NAICS code based on activities on-site and by using the NAICS Manual and by referring to the extensive OMB crosswalk tables found on the Census Bureau website: State agencies and other organizations may assign NAICS codes on a different basis. However, for purposes of EPCRA section 313 reporting, these state assigned codes should not be used if they differ from ones assigned using the NAICS Manual.

  2. Your facility must meet the employee threshold.
  3. Your facility must exceed a chemical activity threshold.
